“I Mean, He Let This Guy Fight”: CM Punk’s Past UFC Opportunity Gives Hope to Released WWE Star to Restart MMA Career Despite Conflict With Dana White

If a wrestler is known to have represented a different domain, his experience and performance in that domain always become intriguing to know. Well, many of us know Dwayne Johnson for that, but former WWE superstar CM Punk has also done that in the past.

Confused? Well, he had a career in Dana White’s UFC at some point in his life. However, it was not how he had expected it to be. On top of that, the opportunity given to him in the UFC is still a sign of optimism for another wrestler. How? Let’s find out.

A subtle reference of CM Punk by a former WWE champ

Former WWE United States champion Matt Riddle had a lot to discuss in his recent interview with ‘Signed By Superstars’. The interesting discussion occurred while the 37-year-old was signing autographs on his posters for the fans. Well, he was asked if he would rectify things with Dana White. FYI, Matt Riddle is a former UFC fighter, and the question might be if he wants to join the UFC again.

Quick on the draw, he responded while taking a subtle dig at CM Punk. He said, “I think there’s money to be had on the table if I were to fight. I mean he let this guy fight there and he didn’t know how, so I am pretty sure he would allow me to come back if I could make some cheddar.”

The prime reason for him to join the UFC in the future was piles of moolah. And he honestly accepted that. However, to give a relevant example, he threw some light on the UFC career of CM Punk. But how was the UFC career of the ‘Second City Saint’?

How did Punk perform in the UFC?

CM Punk’s bold transition into the realm of MMA, especially the UFC, in 2016 was surely shocking news for the fans. However, most of them were eager to see him fight and had hopes that he could do well inside the octagon. In his first match against Mickey Gall at UFC 203, he got a massive setback, which was a tremendous shock for many.
