“Just What Your Fans Want to See In a Living Crisis”: Claressa Shields’ $75,000 Christmas Flex Doesn’t Sit Well With Boxing World

Earlier fans were impressed with Claressa Shields as she hosted her 3rd annual Christmas giveaway. However, when the time came to gift herself something, she seemed to have scorned the fans. Shields, the unified middleweight champion, has found success in the ring at a very nascent conjunction. Such success has also pumped her bank balance as she is reportedly worth $5 million.

Now, given the year she’s had in the ring and beyond, the 28-year-old fighter decided to indulge in self-charity, treating herself to a $75,000 diamond-studded neckpiece. Her aim to flex the blingy article on her social media, however, rubbed her fans in the wrong way as they sought to check her privilege.

Taking to her X, the Michigan native showed off the addition to her jewelry collection. However, what she wrote with the picture, as per fans, seemed to be quite misinformed. Comparing the $75,000 she dropped on the neckpiece to what she thought a house costs in the country, the fighter wrote, “I have a house on my neck…75 Racks On my neck,… Merry Christmas to me.” Does a housing unit come at $75000 in the country today? In an inflated market like right now? Her fans answered the question. One fan pondered if $75000 would be enough to buy a condo.

75k won't even get you an condominium

Another fan explained to the fighter how insensitive her flex is considering the housing crisis that many are going through.

Another fan suggested that such housing rates would’ve been a reality in the 80s, but not today.

A house in thr 80s maybe. Avg house like 350k sweetie

However, with criticism, also came some appreciation. A fan, while wishing her the best, hoped for her speedy return to the ring. Shields last fought Maricela Cornejo in June this year, a fight that she won through UD.

Love you, GWOAT. Wishing you lots of success and happiness in life, and looking forward to watching you fight again.

Then came another well-wisher who had some crucial advice to give to the rising boxing star.

It’s all material….don’t get caught up in the celebrity hype…. You’re still gorgeous tho

While she faces flak for her rather misinformed post, Claressa Shields was earlier celebrated for a kind gesture she did in the holiday spirit.

Santa ‘GWOAT’ Clause

The fighter recently held her 3rd annual Christmas giveaway as part of ‘The Shields Community Outreach Program’ in St. Morris. PFL, the MMA promoter company that signed her on this year, shared glimpses of a large crowd that had gathered at the gym in the area for the giveaway.

While PFL misquoted that it was her 4th such giveaway, ‘GWOAT’ corrected them by reposting, “My 3rd annual Christmas giveaway.” At the heartwarming gathering, queues awaited their turn to receive clothing, food, and health products. They also had the opportunity to meet Santa Claus and select toys to bring home.
