Authorities have released new photos of the suspect who allegedly shot and killed Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca. The community is in shock and grieving the loss of a dedicated officer who was loved by many. As the investigation continues, authorities are pleading for anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.

In a community alert released late Friday, Chicago police announced an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Xavier Tate Jr, who is wanted in connection with Huesca’s murder. According to court records, Tate used a 40-caliber handgun to fatally shoot Huesca, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Sunday morning near his Gage Park home. The 6-year veteran of the force had just finished his shift and was heading home in uniform when the shooting occurred. His Toyota SUV was stolen following the incident but was later recovered.

Huesca was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center but unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. The entire community is mourning the loss of a brave and dedicated officer who put his life on the line to protect others. Huesca’s visitation is planned for Sunday, followed by his funeral on Monday.

The suspect, Xavier Tate Jr, was due in court earlier this week for an unrelated matter but failed to appear. On Monday, authorities released still images and video of a person of interest and have now confirmed that Tate is the individual in the footage. Police are urging anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately as he is considered armed and dangerous.

As the search for the suspect continues, the community is coming together to support Huesca’s family and fellow officers. The Chicago Police Department has also received an outpouring of support from the public, with many offering their condolences and assistance in any way possible.

The news of the arrest warrant being issued brings some relief to the community, but the search for justice and closure is far from over. Authorities are asking anyone with information on Tate’s whereabouts to come forward and help bring closure to this tragic event.

Huesca’s fellow officers remember him as a dedicated and hardworking individual who always put others before himself. He was a beloved member of the Chicago Police Department and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In the midst of this tragedy, the community is reminded of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers every day. They put their lives on the line to protect and serve their communities, and it is a reminder of the dangers they face on a daily basis.

The news of the arrest warrant also serves as a reminder that justice will be served for Officer Huesca. The Chicago Police Department is determined to find the suspect and bring him to justice for his heinous crime.
