School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences welcomes nine new faculty

The academic world is constantly evolving, and with it, the need for new and diverse perspectives in higher education. That’s why we are excited to announce the addition of new professors to various departments and programs at our esteemed institution. These new faculty members bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to their respective fields, enriching the academic environment for students and colleagues alike. Let’s take a closer look at the new additions to our anthropology, economics, history, linguistics, music and theater arts, and philosophy departments, as well as the Program in Science, Technology, and Society.

Anthropology, the study of human societies and cultures, is a vital field in today’s globalized world. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Maria Rodriguez to our anthropology department. With a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Rodriguez’s research focuses on the intersection of culture, identity, and migration. Her expertise will provide students with a deeper understanding of the complexities of human behavior and cultural practices.

In the economics department, we are delighted to have Dr. John Smith join our team. With a PhD from Harvard University, Dr. Smith brings a wealth of knowledge in macroeconomics and public policy. His research on income inequality and economic development will provide valuable insights for students interested in pursuing careers in economics, finance, and public policy.

The study of history is crucial in understanding our past and shaping our future. We are thrilled to have Dr. Sarah Johnson as the newest addition to our history department. The performing arts are an integral part of our cultural landscape, and we are excited to have two new professors join our music and theater arts department. Dr. Emily Brown, a renowned musicologist with a PhD from Yale University, will bring her expertise in classical music and cultural studies to our students. And Dr. Mark Davis, a theater director with a PhD from New York University, will share his knowledge and experience in directing and producing theater productions.

Philosophy, the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics, is a cornerstone of higher education. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Alice Green to our philosophy department. With a PhD from the University of Cambridge, Dr. Green’s research on moral philosophy and political theory will challenge students to think critically and ethically about the world around them.

Lastly, we are excited to have Dr. Michael Chen join our Program in Science, Technology, and Society. With a PhD from Stanford University, Dr. Chen’s research on the intersection of science, technology, and society will provide students with a deeper understanding of the impact of these fields on our daily lives and the world at large.
