Are you a young aspiring journalist with a passion for storytelling? Do you dream of having your voice heard by millions of people? Well, here is your chance to make that dream a reality! TIME for Kids is excited to announce our annual Kid Reporter Contest for the year 2025. This is an incredible opportunity for young minds to showcase their writing skills and join our team of talented Kid Reporters.
The contest is open to children between the ages of 8 and 16, who love to write and have a keen interest in current events. There are two ways to enter this contest, and both are equally easy and accessible for all.
Online Submission: The first way to enter the contest is by submitting your entry online. All you need to do is have your parent or legal guardian visit our official website, https://www.timeforkids.com/kid-reporter/, and follow the simple instructions provided. They will be required to complete the program entry form, known as the “Entry Form,” which will collect all the necessary information for your submission. Once the form is completed and submitted, your entry will be officially recorded for the contest.
Mail-in Submission: The second way to enter the contest is by mailing in your submission. Your parent or legal guardian can simply write a letter to us, including your full name, age, and contact information, along with your original essay or article. The essay should be no longer than 900 words and should be typed or legibly handwritten. The letter and essay should then be mailed to the following address:

Please note that only one entry per child is allowed, and all entries must be received before the deadline of May 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
So, what are we looking for in your submission? We want you to write a news article or essay on any current event that interests you. It could be about a local issue in your community or a global matter that affects us all. We encourage you to be creative, insightful, and resourceful in your writing. Your submission should not only inform but also engage and inspire readers.
Our esteemed panel of judges will be reviewing all submissions and selecting the top ten finalists. These finalists will then go through a rigorous interview process and receive personalized coaching from our team of experienced journalists. The ultimate winner will earn the coveted title of TIME for Kids Kid Reporter and have the opportunity to contribute to our award-winning magazine and website.
But that’s not all! The winner will also have the chance to attend major events and press conferences, cover breaking news stories, and interview influential people from all walks of life. This experience will not only shape you into a skilled reporter but also provide you with a platform to share your thoughts and opinions with the world.
