After Leaving USA Gymnastics Mid-Way, Olivia Dunne Surprises NCAA With Sporting Supremacy

Olivia Dunne is a name that has captured the internet and sports world like no other. But beyond her stellar TikToks, reels, and picturesque posts, there is an athlete with sheer talent. Her journey as a gymnast began at the tender age of 3, and she was even a part of the coveted USA Gymnastics. She noted the paradigm shift in its ethos and decided to do the noble thing, willing to let go of the impasse and find her higher calling by joining forces with the NCAA doyen.

However, she revealed on the NELK podcast, “USA gymnastics fell apart in a sense while I was in that program.” Leaving USA Gymnastics at the time might have seemed like a crucial and intimidating decision. But fast forward to the present day, and on her final run with her alma mater, LSU, 21-year-old Livvy Dunne once again demonstrated impeccable gymnastics sportsmanship.

Olivia Dunne stuns the gymnastics floor

In an Instagram story by her number one cheerleader, Julz Dunne, Olivia Dunne was hailed for her brilliant display of talent as the 2024 NCAA gymnastics season begins. Julz Dunne shared a post by LSU Gymnastics, and in the carousel post, Olivia Dunne was seen in a purple LSU leotard posing in poise on the gymnastics floor.

The caption of the post read, “You’re looking at the No. 1 vault & floor squads after week one” This image was captured at the highly exhilarating NCAA season opener of the LSU Tigers against the Ohio State Buckeyes on January 5, where Livvy and her team showcased impeccable team spirit and grit.

The LSU Tigers open 2024 season on a stellar note

On January 5, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, the home of LSU gymnastics, the Tigers showcased a showdown win against No. 14 Ohio State. With a score of 196.975–196.775, the LSU squad proved they were a force to be reckoned with this 2024 season. In front of over 12,000 fans, the team, including Haleigh Bryant, Amari Drayton, KJ Johnson, Haleigh Bryant, Alexis Jeffrey, Aleah Finnegan, Sierra Ballard, and Olivia Dunne, gave fans a thriller. In the first part of the competition, LSU did well on vault, led by KJ Johnson and Haleigh Bryant.

Then, in the second rotation on bars, the girls scored another 49.375. At the halfway point of the competition, LSU was leading. During the third part on the balance beam, challenges arose due to the absence of Alyona Shchennikova due to a leg injury. But Haleigh Bryant and others helped bring up the score with a resounding 9.950. In the final part on the floor, Sierra Ballard and Olivia Dunne started strong. In her first floor routine of the season, Olivia Dunne earned an impressive score of 9.875. And the team scored 49.525 in this rotation, securing their win over Ohio State.
