Mom Checking on Toddler at Night Spots Strange Marks on Eyes—Then Realizes

As a mother, Lizzie had always been there for her son. She had wiped his tears, kissed his boo-boos, and held his hand through all of life’s ups and downs. But nothing could prepare her for the night when she found her son, still wide awake, with his eyes filled with tears.

Still baffled by how he had managed it, Lizzie gently cleaned his eyes that night, careful not to wake her son. As she quietly moved closer to her son’s bed, she couldn’t help but wonder what could have caused her little boy such distress. Was it a bad dream? A fight with a friend? Or was it something more serious?

Lizzie’s heart ached as she saw her son’s innocent face, usually filled with laughter and joy, now contorted with sadness. She knew that she had to be strong for him, to comfort him and make him feel safe. Slowly, she sat on the edge of his bed and gently brushed the tears away from his cheeks.

In that moment, Lizzie realized that her role as a mother was not just to provide for her son’s physical needs, but also to be there for him emotionally. She needed to be his rock, his safe haven, his comforter. And as she wiped away his tears, she also wiped away her own worries and fears.

Lizzie’s gentle touch and soothing words seemed to work magic on her son. With each stroke of her hand, his tears lessened and his breathing steadied. And as she whispered words of love and reassurance, he slowly drifted off to sleep, with a smile on his face.

As any parent would, Lizzie spent the night trying to figure out what could have caused her son such distress. And as she reflected on their conversation, she remembered the words her son had said earlier that day – “I’m scared, Mom. I don’t want to be alone.”

It suddenly clicked – her son’s fear of being alone had manifested itself in the form of tears and sadness. And Lizzie knew that she had to do something about it. She made a promise to herself to always be there for her son, no matter what. To never let him feel alone or afraid.

The next morning, Lizzie woke up to find her son peacefully sleeping, and her heart was filled with happiness. She knew that she had done the right thing by being there for him, by comforting him and showing him that he was loved and protected.

From that night on, Lizzie made sure to always check on her son before going to bed, to make sure he felt safe and secure. And although there were still many sleepless nights and tears shed, Lizzie knew that her love and support were the best medicine for her son.

As parents, we often underestimate the power of our presence and the impact it has on our children. We get caught up in our busy lives and forget that our children need us, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Lizzie’s experience reminded her of the importance of being there for her son, of being a source of comfort and strength for him.

So, to all the parents out there, let’s remember to always be there for our children, especially in their moments of need. Let us wipe away their tears, soothe their fears, and be their guiding light in this sometimes confusing and scary world. And let us never forget that our love and support are the greatest gifts we can give to our children.
