In a momentous occasion for Mexico’s labor movement, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, spearheading the national campaign for the Fourth Transformation, announced a pivotal partnership with the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) at the organization’s XV Ordinary National Congress in Mexico City. This collaboration seeks to fortify and expand labor rights across Mexico, recognizing that the welfare of workers is indispensable for the nation’s advancement.
Sheinbaum, acknowledging Mexico’s positive trajectory, stressed the imperative of further enhancing labor rights. She articulated, “Our shared objective is paramount: to prevent a return to a past marked by corruption and privilege, and to advance with the Fourth Transformation of our public life.” The establishment of over 10,000 Labor Defense Committees within CATEM as part of the Fourth Transformation signifies tangible progress towards this objective.
