Law enforcement expand search efforts for missing Wisconsin toddler Elijah Vue

Authorities have expanded their search for missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue in Wisconsin, as they urge the public to participate in coordinated and legal search efforts. The Two Rivers Police Department provided an update on the search for the toddler in a Facebook post on Friday, stating that despite additional aerial searches and inspections of manholes, there has been no sign of Elijah.

Law enforcement is currently analyzing a large amount of video footage and following up on various leads in hopes of finding Elijah. The police department has also been in constant communication with Elijah’s family, providing them with updates on the search.

“We will continue to conduct a variety of search efforts while also investigating the circumstances surrounding Elijah Vue’s disappearance. We will release information as it becomes available,” the police stated.

Since mid-March, when a blanket belonging to Elijah was found approximately 3.7 miles from where he was last seen, there have been no major developments in the case. Elijah was last seen in late February when he disappeared from an apartment where he was staying with his mother’s boyfriend, Jesse Vang. According to a criminal complaint, Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, had left him with Vang several days earlier, hoping he would teach her son “to be a man.” She had planned to pick him up on February 23.

On the day of Elijah’s disappearance, Vang called the police and reported the boy missing. He claimed that he had taken a nap and brought Elijah into the bedroom with him. However, when he woke up three hours later, the toddler was gone.

Both Baur and Vang have been charged with child neglect, but no charges have been filed in connection with Elijah’s disappearance. Multiple law enforcement agencies have joined forces to offer a $40,000 reward for any information that leads to Elijah’s return or an arrest and conviction in his disappearance.

The search for Elijah has been ongoing for over a month, and the community has come together to support the efforts. However, with no major developments, the police are urging the public to continue to participate in coordinated and legal search efforts.
